What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file saved on your device when you visit a website. Websites can also save small amounts of information in your browser using local storage. We use the word cookies for both.

Cookies we use

We use only strictly necessary cookies and storage. The law allows these without asking for consent, because the site cannot work properly without them.

NamePurposeHow long
brx_modeRemembers the display setting chosen by the website (light or dark). Stored in your browser, not sent to us.Until you clear your browser storage
wordpress_test_cookieChecks that your browser accepts cookies. Only set on the staff login page.Until you close your browser
wordpress_sec_* and wordpress_logged_in_*Keep authorised staff signed in to the private areas of the site. Not used for ordinary visitors.Until sign out, or up to 14 days

Cookies we do not use

We do not use:

  • analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics
  • advertising or marketing cookies
  • social media tracking

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, you will not see a cookie consent banner on our site.

Content from other services

The background video on our homepage is streamed from Adilo, a video hosting service. Loading the video connects your browser to their servers. We do not use this to track you. If you turn on reduced motion, or a data saver setting on your device, the video does not load.

Our fonts are stored on our own server, so loading them does not connect you to any other company.

Controlling cookies

You can view, block and delete cookies in your browser settings. Most browsers explain how in their help pages. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the site, such as the staff login, will not work.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add other cookies, such as analytics, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

If you have a question about cookies, email office@globalmckarm.co.uk.
