Our environmental commitment
Carbon Reduction Plan
Our plan to reach Net Zero by 2050, with our current emissions, our targets and the steps we are taking to reduce our footprint year on year.
Commitment to Net Zero
Net Zeroby 2050
Global M'ckarm International Care Services Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions across our operations by 2050, in line with the UK Government's Net Zero Strategy and the requirements of the Climate Change Act 2008.
We recognise that care providers have a responsibility to reduce their environmental impact alongside delivering high-quality, person-centred support. This Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our current emissions baseline, our targets, and the steps we are taking to reduce our carbon footprint year on year.
Our organisation
We are a small registered care provider delivering domiciliary care and supported living services. We do not operate from a dedicated commercial premises. Our workforce is community-based, working from home and travelling directly to the people we support. This means our operational footprint is modest by design, but we are committed to measuring, managing, and reducing it.
Greenhouse gas emissions baseline
Emissions have been calculated for the period April 2025 to April 2026 using the GHG Protocol methodology. As a small provider without commercial premises, our emissions are concentrated in staff travel and supply chain activity.
Direct emissions from fuel combustion. We do not operate a company vehicle fleet, so Scope 1 emissions are nil.
Indirect emissions from purchased energy. We do not lease or own commercial premises, so Scope 2 emissions are nil.
Value chain emissions, arising primarily from staff commuting and business travel to the homes of the people we support.
Total estimated emissions for April 2025 to April 2026.
| Category | tCO2e | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Employee commuting and business travel | 2.1 | Estimated from current staffing levels and service delivery geography |
| Upstream transportation and distribution | Not yet measured | Deliveries of supplies and PPE, expected to be minimal |
| Waste generated in operations | Not yet measured | Licensed clinical waste collection, expected to be minimal |
| Downstream transportation and distribution | Not applicable | We do not distribute goods |
This figure will be formally measured and reported in subsequent years as our data collection processes mature.

Environmental management measures
The following measures are in place or being implemented to reduce our environmental impact:
Travel and transport
Staff are encouraged to plan visit routes efficiently to minimise total mileage. Where public transport is a practical alternative to private car use, we support and encourage its use. We will prioritise candidates with lower-emission vehicles during recruitment where all other factors are equal, and we will transition to an electric or hybrid vehicle policy as the workforce grows.
Digital operations
All care records, staff documents, policies, contracts, and communications are managed digitally through Care Pathway Pro and our employee management portal. We do not operate paper-based recording systems. This eliminates the emissions and waste associated with printing, physical storage, and postal communication.
Procurement
We purchase supplies from UK-based suppliers wherever possible to reduce transport-related emissions in our supply chain. We do not purchase single-use plastics for operational use. PPE is sourced in quantities that minimise delivery frequency.
Waste
Clinical and care-related waste is disposed of through licensed waste contractors in accordance with current regulations. We minimise waste generation through digital-first operations and proportionate ordering of consumables.
Staff awareness
All staff receive an introduction to our environmental commitments as part of their induction. We communicate our Carbon Reduction Plan internally so that everyone understands our targets and their individual contribution to meeting them.
Monitoring and review
We will review and republish this Carbon Reduction Plan annually. Each review will include an updated emissions estimate based on improved data collection, a progress report against our reduction targets, and any new measures introduced during the year.
We will engage with commissioners, local authorities, and partners to align our environmental commitments with their own Net Zero strategies where relevant.
